'37 18 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO YWCA OF HAWAII <br />ISLAND TO REPAIR ITS FORENSIC CAMERA USED FOR ITS SEXUAL ASSAULT <br />SUPPORT SERVICES PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, the YWCA of Hawaii Island (YWCA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br />that is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, <br />freedom and dignity for all; and <br />WHEREAS, the YWCA's Sexual Assault Support Services program (SASS), in <br />partnership with the Hawaii Police Department, provides an array of services for victims of <br />sexual assault, including confidential counseling at no cost to the victim, crisis intervention, <br />therapeutic services, and an island -wide 24/7 crisis hotline; and <br />WHEREAS, the YWCA is requesting funds to assist with repairing its forensic camera <br />that provides crucial evidence for sex assault survivors; and <br />WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports projects that improve the <br />criminal justice system by identifying areas of need and working collaboratively with other <br />criminal justice agencies and the community to improve the quality of life in Hawaii County; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br />Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to YWCA of Hawaii Island to repair its forensic camera <br />to be used for its Sexual Assault Support Services Program in Kona. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfer/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
