COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />745 18 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE AAUW KONA <br />EDUCATIONAL FUND TO ASSIST WITH THE 2018 GIRLS EXPLORING MATH <br />AND SCIENCE EVENT IN WEST HAWAII. <br />WHEREAS, the AAUW Kona Educational Fund (AAUW) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization that promotes educational activities .for women and girls and encourages higher <br />education to the young women of West Hawaii; and <br />WHEREAS, Girls Exploring Math and Science (GEMS) is an annual event hosted by <br />AAUW to teach math, science, and technology to fifth grade girls using hands-on activities; and <br />WHEREAS, AAUW has requested financial assistance with expenses to assist with <br />registration of students who are participating with the December 4, 2018 GEMS event; and <br />WHEREAS, one goal of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is to encourage and <br />promote crime prevention and early juvenile prevention initiatives to improve the quality of life <br />on the Big Island; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to Office of the <br />Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to the AAUW Kona Educational Fund to assist with the <br />2018 GEMS event in West Hawaii. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
