Harry Kim <br />Mayor <br />County of Hawaii <br />PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br />PUNA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN ACTION COMMITTEE <br />Aupuni Center • 101 Pauahi Street, Suite 3 • Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br />Phone (808) 961-8288 • Fax (808) 961-8742 <br />Tuesday, June 4, 2019 <br />Meeting Minutes <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Michael Yee <br />Director <br />Duane Kanuha <br />Deputy Director <br />Chair Larry Brown called the Puna Community Development Plan (PCDP) Action Committee (AC) to <br />order at 5:11 p.m. in the Kea'au Community Center. <br />ROLL CALL <br />Action Committee Members Present: Larry Brown (Chair), Brent Norris, Dan Domizio, Frances Brewer, <br />and Yumi Kawano <br />Action Committee Members Absent -Excused: Leila Kealoha, Mark Hinshaw, Michael Bernard, and <br />Susan Osborne <br />Staff Planners: April Surprenant, Bethany Morrison, Heather Bartlett, Keiko Mercado, and Natasha <br />Soriano. <br />Hawaii Alliance for Community -Based Economic Development [HACBED] Contractors: Brent Kakesako, <br />Eden Jablon, and Keoki Noji. <br />Research and Development Volunteer Recorders: Audrey Robeson, Robert Agres, and Kara Bocher. <br />Members of the public: 20 <br />ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA: NONE <br />ANNOUNCEMENTS: <br />PUBLIC COMMENT ON AGENDA ITEMS: Four members of the public signed up to provide comment. <br />They chose to speak at the beginning of the meeting. <br />Jon Olsen, representing himself, testified on agenda item 1: General Plan Comprehensive <br />Review and Mini Speakout Workshop. Mr. Olsen stressed the importance of bringing the Puna <br />CDP into alignment with the General Plan. He expressed the importance of engaging the <br />community throughout the process.
