Purpose: <br />Authority: <br />Appointment: <br />Full membership: <br />BOARD OF ETHICS* <br />To interpret the County's Code of Ethics for officers, employees and <br />the public; receive and initiate complaints; conduct hearings on <br />violations and render opinions. <br />Hawai'i County Charter, Section 14-5. <br />Mayor with Council approval. Normal five-year staggered terms. <br />Five members. <br />Specific representation: None required. <br />Requirements: Members must be residents of the County. No more than three may <br />belong officially to the same political party. <br />Meetings: Once a month, on the 2"d Wednesday of the month. <br />Financial disclosure: <br />Members must file confidential financial disclosures within 20 <br />working days of taking the oath of office. Thereafter, annual <br />disclosures must be filed on or before January 31. The disclosures are <br />confidential and will be kept on file by the Board of Ethics.
