PENSION BOARD <br />May 2017 <br />Purpose: To assume the duties and functions of the Pension board of the <br />County and the Board of Trustees of the policemen, firemen, and <br />bandsmen as provided by law. <br />Authority: Hawaii County Charter, Section 6-6.4 <br />Appointment: Mayor with Council approval. Normal five-year staggered terms. <br />Full Membership: Five members. <br />Ex -Officio Members: County Clerk, Director of Finance <br />Specific Representation: None required. <br />Requirements: No more than three shall belong officially to same political party. <br />The Pension Board shall be attached to the Department of Finance. <br />The County Clerk shall serve as ex -officio secretary and the <br />Director of Finance shall serve as ex -officio treasurer. <br />Meetings: As necessary, normally every three months on last Monday of the <br />month, 1:30 p.m., Council Chambers, Hilo. <br />Financial Disclosure: Members must file Financial Disclosure within 20 working days of <br />taking office. Thereafter, annual disclosures must be filed on or <br />before January 31. The disclosures are confidential and will be <br />kept on file by the Board of Ethics. County Code, Chapter 2, <br />Section 2-91.1. <br />Reappointment: Following the expiration of a term no member may be reappointed <br />for at least two years. <br />Qualities: Respected by the community as being community -minded and <br />oriented.
