Messina <br />Deputy Director <br />The 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks in Hilo, entitled the "Hilo Bay Blast" is a <br />wonderful event that has become a tradition for many families. <br />The County of Hawaii in partnership with Destination Hilo, Hawaii Explosives & <br />Pyrotechnics, and the State of Hawaii are proud to present "Hilo Bay Blast 2018". This <br />year's Fourth of July Celebration will feature various activities throughout the day <br />culminating with the traditional Fireworks Exhibition at 8 p.m. in Hilo Bay. <br />On July 4th beginning at 7 a.m. the "Salute to Our Veterans", Hilo Bay 5K Run/Walk at <br />Lili'uokalani Gardens starts the celebration! In recognition of all those in uniform — past, <br />present and future — the walk is sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post <br />3830, and prizes will be awarded for various categories. A $25.00 registration fee is <br />required. Space is still available. In addition to <br />Hawaii Island, car enthusiasts from Oahu, Maui and across the country — California, <br />Oregon, Washington, Texas, Michigan — have committed to ship their classic/vintage <br />vehicles to Hilo to participate in this year's event, which is free of charge and open to <br />the public. All participants bear the cost of buying, restoring/building and transporting <br />their own vehicles to participate in the Hawaii Classic Cruizers 11 -day "Cruize Paradise" <br />event on the Big Island. Individuals interested in participating in the Car Show can call <br />County of Hawai'i is an Equal Opportunity Provider and Employer. <br />
