Section 5A-3-3 of Bill No. 179, Draft 2 (Amendments to Appendix C; Group U— <br /> Agricultural Buildings), is amended by amending paragraph Cl 01.3.2 to read as <br /> follows: <br /> "C101.3.2 Barbed or razor wire fences. Barbed or razor wire shall not <br /> be used for construction of any fence. <br /> Exceptions: <br /> (a) Barbed or razor wire may be used in fences enclosing the following <br /> premises, provided that barded or razor wire shall be placed along or <br /> above the height of 6 feet from the ground, subject to the approval of <br /> the fire department: <br /> (1) Any "public utility" as defined in section 269-1, Hawai`i Revised <br /> Statutes; <br /> (2) Premises in industrial zoned districts and used for storage or <br /> handling of hazardous materials, and premises zoned I-2 or I-3, <br /> intensive or waterfront industrial districts which are used for <br /> industrial purposes and are not adjacent to premises used for other <br /> purposes; <br /> (3) Zoos for keeping animals and birds for public view or exhibition; <br /> (4) Jails, prisons, reformatories, and other institutions which are <br /> involved in law enforcement or military activities where security <br /> against entry is an important factor. <br /> (b) Barbed wire may be used in premises used for pasturing [cattle or <br /> raising swine] livestock, including but not limited to: horses; cattle; <br /> sheep; goats; camelids; and pigs, or to keep [pigs or other] wild <br /> animals out." <br /> Due to the extensive length of Bill No. 179, Draft 2, a copy of the revised draft of this bill <br /> that would result if these proposed amendments are adopted is not attached. <br /> TR/dbk:lc <br /> 2 <br />
