REQUEST: <br />DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE <br />REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />DATE: <br />PHONE: <br />July 24, 2020 <br />961-8321 <br />A resolution, authorizing the Mayor to enter into an intergovernmental agreement between the County of <br />Hawaii and the U.S. Geological survey (USGS) for the purposes of continuing the Cooperative Flood - <br />Monitoring program on the island of Hawaii. <br />B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br />This agreement with the USGS is an annually budgeted, joint funding agreement where the County of <br />Hawaii contributes $48,336 toward the flood -monitoring program for the collection of long-term systematic <br />data of annual peak streamflow in selected streams.
