Chung, Council Chair <br />and Members of the County Council <br />County of Hawaii <br />25 Aupuni Street <br />Hilo, HI 96720 <br />Dear Chair Chung and Council Members: <br />Thomas Raffipiy, Chair <br />John Replogle, Vice -Chair <br />Gilbert Aguinaldo <br />Dean Au <br />Joseph Clarkson <br />SUBEJCT: Planning Director Initiated <br />Amendment to Chapter 25 (Zoning Code), Articles 1 and 5 of the Hawaii County <br />Code 1983 (2016 Edition, As Amended), Relating to Primary Airports <br />The Windward Planning Commission, at its duly held public hearing on July 2, 2020, considered the <br />above -referenced request initiated by the Planning Director for an amendment Chapter 25 (Zoning Code), <br />Articles 1 and 5 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), relating to primary airports. <br />The purpose of these amendments is to establish a land use called "Primary Airports" by adding a <br />definition, identifying accessory land uses, and adding the land use as a permitted use within the County's <br />Limited Industrial (ML) and General Industrial (MG) zoning districts. <br />The Commission voted to forward a favorable recommendation to the County Council on the request. <br />The draft bill is attached for your favorable consideration.
