..Y COUNTY OF HAWAII I*� ''�-�. / •- STATE OF HAWAII • TE RESOLUTION NO. 752 20 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE FUTURE FOR THE TAKE A STAND AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COMMUNITY AWARENESS INITIATIVE. WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that envisions harmony and balance among the diverse people of Hawai`i and encourages each person to contribute their deepest values, create shared visions, and continuously improve their communities; and WHEREAS, October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Friends of the Future is working in partnership with the North Hawai`i Domestic Violence Action Center to coordinate pop-up sites throughout the community for the Take a Stand Against Domestic Violence community awareness initiative in lieu of the annual Peace Vigil due to the COVID-19 pandemic; and WHEREAS, these pop-up sites will provide educational pamphlets and support information on domestic violence awareness, as well as distribute face masks to the community; and WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is requesting funds to cover expenses for banners, marketing and promotional items, pamphlets, and face masks that will be distributed to the community for the Take a Stand Against Domestic Violence community awareness initiative; and WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports domestic violence prevention and intervention initiatives to improve the quality of life for Hawai`i Island residents; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Friends of the Future for the Take a Stand Against Domestic Violence community awareness initiative.
