Additional federally -derived funds in the amount of $8,128.80 <br />are being provided by the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation to fund operations <br />focused on reducing the number of drivers using electronic devices while operating a vehicle. <br />Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating these <br />additional funds into the Hawaii County Police's Distracted Driving Project account, bringing the <br />total appropriation to $73,128.80. <br />The Police Department requests that this bill be waived from the Finance Committee and be placed <br />on the October 21, 2020 Council agenda in order to expedite the receipt of these funds.
