COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />ORDINANCE NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />BILL NO. 217 <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE 10, DIVISION 4, SECTION 24- <br />278 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2016 EDITION, AS AMENDED), <br />RELATING TO PEDESTRIANS. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: <br />SECTION 1. The purpose of this amendment is to improve safety upon that portion of <br />Waipi`o Valley Road running from the Waipi`o Valley lookout to a point near its entry upon the <br />valley the floor. <br />SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 10, division 4, section 24-278, schedule 26, Roads <br />closed to pedestrian traffic, subsection (a), Hdmdkua, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 <br />Edition, as amended), is amended by adding the following to be appropriately designated and to <br />read as follows: <br />Waipi`o Valley Road, from a point approximately nine hundred thirty feet <br />northwest of Kukuihaele Road and extending approximately nine thousand <br />three hundred feet in the northwestern direction, except in case of <br />emergency. <br />SECTION 3. New material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the underscoring <br />need not be included. <br />SECTION 4. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof <br />to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or <br />applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or <br />application, and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. <br />SECTION 5.
