COUNTY OF HAWAI `I <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />27 21 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE COOPER <br />CENTER COUNCIL FOR ITS KEIKI CARE PACKS PROJECT. <br />WHEREAS, the Cooper Center Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that <br />oversees the Cooper Center located in Volcano Village and whose mission is to bring the <br />community together into a cohesive group through shared activities and projects; and <br />WHEREAS, the Cooper Center Council serves various communities in Volcano Village <br />and surrounding areas by providing a venue for meetings, community events, weekly farmers' <br />market, monthly food distribution, and the Volunteer Company 19 -Alpha Fire Station; and <br />WHEREAS, the Cooper Center Council, along with community members, is <br />coordinating a Keiki Care Packs project at Cooper Center to provide non-perishable food, <br />snacks, activities, arts, crafts, and miscellaneous items for 500 students in kindergarten through <br />eighth grade; and <br />WHEREAS, the Cooper Center Council is requesting funds to purchase food, supplies, <br />materials, and other miscellaneous items for the Keiki Care Packs project; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports organizations and <br />programs that provide services and opportunities that meet the needs of the community; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Cooper Center Council to assist with its Keiki <br />Care Packs project. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
