REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON REGENERATIVE AGRICULTURE, WATER, <br /> ENERGY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT <br /> DATE: January 5, 2021 Re: Communication No. 43 <br /> PLACE: Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 4:25 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Regenerative Agriculture, Water, Energy, and Environmental Management, <br /> to which was referred Communication No. 43, reports as follows: <br /> Communication No. 43, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated December 8, 2020, <br /> appoints Ramzi L Mansour as the Director of Environmental Management for the County of <br /> Hawaii, pursuant to Section 6-10.2 of Hawaii County Charter. <br /> A motion to move Communication No. 43 to full Council with a positive recommendation was <br /> made by Council Member Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder; seconded by Council Member Ashley <br /> Kierkiewicz. <br /> Mayor Roth introduced Ramzi Mansour to Your Committee and expressed his strong support of <br /> Mr. Mansour as he comes with an extensive resume involving wastewater and solid waste. <br /> Mayor Roth informed that he involved a group of Kona constituents to advise of their current <br /> wastewater issues and director candidate suggestions. Mr. Mansour comes to the County of <br /> Hawaii from the City and County of Honolulu. <br /> Mr. Mansour thanked Mayor Roth for the opportunity and stressed the department's goals to <br /> protect the health and welfare of the public with projects prioritized based off that statement. <br /> Several Council Members commented in favor of Mr. Mansour's nomination and noted how this <br /> position inherits many long-term issues that will benefit by his expertise. <br /> Mr. Mansour will serve a term co-terminus with Mayor Roth's tenure, which will end on <br /> December 2, 2024. <br /> AWEEMC Report No.: 1 <br />
