COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />JMty os k� <br />rrE•NA <br />OF•N�'� <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />GIL 2S <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PAHOA LAVA <br />ZONE MUSEUM FOR THE PURCHASE AND OPERATION OF SECURITY <br />CAMERAS FOR PAHOA TOWN CENTER. <br />WHEREAS, the Pdhoa Lava Zone Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, displays <br />cultural art and volcanic exhibits and artifacts that highlight the unique geological features of <br />lower Puna, attracting visitors and residents who are contributing to the revitalization of <br />downtown Pdhoa and the surrounding community; and <br />WHEREAS, the Pdhoa Lava Zone Museum receives visitors from all over the world, <br />hosts tours for small groups, and provides drug-free and alcohol -free educational events to local <br />civic, school, and youth groups; and <br />WHEREAS, the Pdhoa Lava Zone Museum and surrounding businesses are adversely <br />affected by unlawful and criminal activity, including, but not limited to, property damage, theft, <br />assault, and illegal drug and alcohol use in public spaces, resulting in an unsafe environment; and <br />WHEREAS, the Pdhoa Lava Zone Museum is requesting funds for its Pdhoa Security <br />Camera Program to purchase, install, and maintain security cameras for Pdhoa Town Center; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, the Office of Prosecuting Attorney supports improving the criminal justice <br />system by identifying areas of need and working collaboratively with other criminal justice <br />agencies and with the community; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Office of <br />Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to the Pdhoa Lava Zone Museum the purchase and <br />operation of security cameras for Pdhoa Town Center. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
