JMSV Of y� <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI `I STATE OF HAWAI `I <br />ori OF•M�.1� <br />RESOLUTION NO. 63 21, <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MALAMA O PUNA <br />FOR ITS LITTLE FIRE ANT PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, Malama O Puna is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to <br />assure critical habitat for native species and open space for future generations through <br />environmental education, hands-on projects, advocacy, watch -dogging, and land trusting; and <br />WHEREAS, little fire ants are an invasive species that damage ecosystems, gardens, and <br />agricultural space, which is dissuading community members from growing their own food; and <br />WHEREAS, Malama O Puna is requesting funds for its Little Fire Ant Program to <br />distribute informational handouts and testing kits for preventative action and biological control; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation aims to provide a diversified <br />recreation program that addresses the needs and interests of the respective communities in a safe <br />environment; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Malama O Puna for its Little Fire Ant Program. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
