REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC WORKS AND MASS TRANSIT <br /> DATE: March 2, 2021 Re: Comm. No. 118/Res. No. 46-21 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 11:30 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Public Works and Mass Transit, to which was referred Resolution No. 46-21, <br /> reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 46-21, introduced by Committee Chair Susan L.K. Lee Loy at the request of the <br /> Administration, and transmitted via Communication No. 118 dated January 28, 2021, approves the <br /> County of Hawaii Mass Transit Agency's Title VI Plan pursuant to the Federal Transit Administration <br /> Title VI Circular 4702.1B Requirements and Guidelines. <br /> Ms. Brenda Carreira, Administrator, Mass Transit Agency, acknowledged the hard work of the Program <br /> Manager, Ms. Tiffany Kai, as she spearheaded this project. The Plan needs to be approved to make sure <br /> our County is in line for currentand continued federal funds. <br /> Committee Member Tim Richards appreciated the information and explanation given by Ms. Carreira <br /> regarding needing this plan for compliance. <br /> Committee Member Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder acknowledged the plan and asked about the <br /> Transportation Commission, as referred to in the plan. Ms. Carreira explained the county has a <br /> Transportation Commission that advises the Mass Transit Agency and they have had difficulty filling <br /> open seats and keeping members. There are currently four open slots.
