No. 157 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 2:30 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Governmental Operations, Relations, and Economic Development,to which <br /> was referred Communication No. 157, reports as follows: <br /> Transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, via Communication No. 157, dated February 17, 2021, <br /> submitting for the Council's review and confirmation the appointment of Ms. Breeani Sumera-Lee <br /> of Council District 3 to the Redistricting Commission. <br /> Ms. Pomaika`i Bartolome, Executive Assistant to Mayor Roth, introduced Ms. Sumera-Lee stating <br /> that she was honored to nominate such an innovator, entreprenuer and committed community <br /> member. <br /> Ms. Sumera-Lee was praised for her community-focused businesses the Keaukaha Store and <br /> Hawaii RISE Foundation. It was noted that she was a graduate of Hawaii Prepatory Academy <br /> and the Unversity of Hawaii at Hilo. <br /> Ms. Sumera-Lee was present and thanked the committee for allowing her to attend in person. When <br /> asked why she was interested in serving on the Redistricting Commission, she stated that it was <br /> important to her because it is so important for her community in terms of equitable representation <br /> on all levels of government in Hawaii. <br /> Chair Kimball informed the nominee that she does not have to appear in person at Council for <br /> confirmation. <br /> If confirmed, Ms. Sumera-Lee will serve a term to end upon the filing of the 2021 <br /> Reapportionment Plan. <br /> GOREDC Report No. 10 <br />
