COUNTY OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. STATE OF HAWAII A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO ST. JAMES' EPISCOPAL CHURCH FOR THE PA`AUILO COMMUNITY MEAL PROGRAM AT ST. COLUMBA'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH TO HELP THE COMMUNITY DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC AND RECOVERY PERIOD. WHEREAS, St James' Episcopal Church (St. James), a subordinate 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization of the Episcopal Church in Hawaii, has been providing weekly meals to the Waimea community since 2016; and WHEREAS, the COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to an increase in residents experiencing food insecurity on Hawaii Island; and WHEREAS, St. James has been helping the St. Columba's Episcopal Church with its own weekly -meal program in Pa`auilo, with the bulk of the food prepared at St. James' kitchen and then delivered to St. Columba's Episcopal Church; and WHEREAS, St. James has requested financial assistance to purchase food and other supplies for the Pa`auilo Community Meal Program to continue serving nutritious meals to the public at the St. Columba's Episcopal Church; and WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports this project, because it is compatible with its mission to enhance the standard of living for residents in Hawaii County; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Research and Development to provide a grant to St. James' Episcopal Church for the Pa`auilo Community Meal Program at St. Columba's Episcopal Church to help the community during the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery period. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
