COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />96 21 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE HAWAII <br />COUNTY ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY COUNCIL FOR THE PURCHASE OF CITRIC <br />ACID TO CONTROL COQUI FROGS IN COUNCIL DISTRICT 7. <br />WHEREAS, West Hawaii residents continue to fight the coqui frog infestation using <br />citric acid; and <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Economic Opportunity Council (HCEOC) is a <br />501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has been helping to provide citric acid to Hawaii Island <br />residents; and <br />WHEREAS, HCEOC is requesting funds to purchase more citric acid to assist the West <br />Hawaii residents in Council District 7 with controlling-coqui frogs in their neighborhoods; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the objectives of the Department of Research and Development is to <br />support research or extension projects on invasive species, such as the coqui frog; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Research and Development to provide a grant to HCEOC for the purchase of citric acid to <br />control the coqui frog infestation in Council District 7. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
