COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAII PUBLIC HEALTH INSTITUTE TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS COMMUNITY OUTREACH EFFORTS. WHEREAS, Hawaii Public Health Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves as a hub for health, bringing community-based organizations, government, academia, foundations and business together to improve the quality of life for the people of Hawaii; and WHEREAS, Tobacco Free Hawaii Island, is a program under Hawaii Public Health Institute, that created two informational info graphics "What's in a Vape" and "EVALI vs COVID-19" (know the warning signs) to be shared within hospitals, medical offices, community health centers, and Hawaii Island public and private schools; and WHEREAS, Hawaii Public Health Institute is requesting funds to cover expenses for printing and laminating posters to educate and raise awareness about the impacts of vaping and other electronic nicotine delivery systems; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that bring awareness and education to our youth and community to live a healthy, alcohol -free, and drug- free lifestyle; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawaii Public Health Insitute to assist with expenses for its community outreach efforts. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
