COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />JN< -4 OF N,�1 <br />tri oF.N►.:e� <br />RESOLUTION NO. <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE LIONS CLUB OF <br />KONA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION INC., FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS <br />EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH EFFORTS. <br />WHEREAS, the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation Inc., (LCKCFI) is a <br />501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to develop and provide community service <br />projects and activities that seek to improve the Kona community through humanitarian efforts; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Konawaena High School Leo Club is the youth branch of the Lions <br />Club of Kona; and <br />WHEREAS, Since August 2019 the Leo Club developed a partnership with the Kona <br />Soil and Water Conservation District (KSWCD) to assist with community outreach; and <br />WHEREAS, the LCKCFI is partnering with Kona Soil and Water Conservation District <br />(KSWCD) and the Konawaena High School LEO Club to conduct a community outreach effort <br />to inform the community on the fragility of our Kona landscape and what the public needs to do <br />to protect our land for future generations; and <br />WHEREAS, the LCKCFI is requesting funds for printing "No Spray" stickers, <br />advertising, acquiring Native Hawaiian trees, shrubs, grasses, and miscellaneous educational <br />material and supplies; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Research and Development is to <br />support sustainable agricultural practices by promoting educational opportunities designed to <br />build skills and capacity in the farm community; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Research and Development to provide a grant to the Lions Club of Kona Community Foundation <br />Inc., for expenses relating to its educational outreach efforts. <br />
