COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />101 21 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO PATH TO PURCHASE <br />AND MAINTAIN PET WASTE BAGS FOR THE OLD WALUA TRAIL. <br />WHEREAS, the nearly four -mile long Old Walua Trail is a shared -use pathway in <br />Kailua-Kona and the only one of its kind in the Kona area; and <br />WHEREAS, the Old Walua Trail provides the community with a trail for dog -walking, <br />jogging, and bicycling while enjoying the scenic beauty of Kona; and <br />WHEREAS, PATH - Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization that was established in 1986, with the mission to connect people and places on <br />Hawaii Island with pathways and bikeways; and <br />WHEREAS, PATH installed signage on existing poles, purchased pet waste dispensers, <br />and coordinates "Kokua Walua" quarterly cleanup events; and <br />WHEREAS, PATH is requesting funds to purchase pet waste disposable bags for the <br />dispensers at the Old Walua Trail; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports community groups that <br />work to maintain the beauty of its community through maintenance and improvements, as it falls <br />within its mission to encourage community service projects; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to PATH to purchase and maintain pet waste bags for the <br />Old Walua Trail. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
