COUNTY OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO STATE OF HAWAII 101 21 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO PATH TO PURCHASE AND MAINTAIN PET WASTE BAGS FOR THE OLD WALUA TRAIL. WHEREAS, the nearly four -mile long Old Walua Trail is a shared -use pathway in Kailua-Kona and the only one of its kind in the Kona area; and WHEREAS, the Old Walua Trail provides the community with a trail for dog -walking, jogging, and bicycling while enjoying the scenic beauty of Kona; and WHEREAS, PATH - Peoples Advocacy for Trails Hawaii is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that was established in 1986, with the mission to connect people and places on Hawaii Island with pathways and bikeways; and WHEREAS, PATH installed signage on existing poles, purchased pet waste dispensers, and coordinates "Kokua Walua" quarterly cleanup events; and WHEREAS, PATH is requesting funds to purchase pet waste disposable bags for the dispensers at the Old Walua Trail; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports community groups that work to maintain the beauty of its community through maintenance and improvements, as it falls within its mission to encourage community service projects; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to PATH to purchase and maintain pet waste bags for the Old Walua Trail. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
