REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: April 20, 2021 Re: Comm.No. 196/Res.No. 88-21 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 10:30 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Resolution No. 88-21,reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 88-21,transmitted by Director of Finance Deanna Sako via Communication No. 196 <br /> dated April 1, 2021, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one fiscal <br /> year for a multi-year lease of one two-man bucket truck for the Department of Public Works. <br /> This resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into a five-year lease agreement with an approximate <br /> monthly cost of$5,333. The County will own the equipment at the end of the lease. <br /> Public Works' Traffic Division Chief Aaron Takaba was available via Zoom to take questions. <br /> Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder asked Mr. Takaba for a quick breakdown of this purchase. <br /> Mr. Takaba explained this two-man bucket truck will be replacing a one-man bucket truck and that it <br /> will be used island-wide for emergencies. Currently they do not have any two-man bucket trucks. <br /> Mr. Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder went on to ask if obtaining this new equipment is a precursor to getting more <br /> installations done and will it increase our productivity.
