REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: April 20, 2021 Re: Comm.No. 197/Res.No. 89-21 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 10:30 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Resolution No. 89-21,reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 89-21,transmitted by Director of Finance Deanna Sako via Communication No. 197 <br /> dated April 1, 2021, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one fiscal <br /> year for a multi-year lease of one crane truck for the Department of Public Works. <br /> This resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into a five-year lease agreement with an approximate <br /> monthly cost of$5,000. The County will own the equipment at the end of the lease. <br /> Public Works' Traffic Division Chief Aaron Takaba was available to take questions. <br /> Council Member Tim Richards asked Mr. Takaba if this new crane truck was to augment or replace the <br /> boom truck currently being used. Mr. Takaba said the current crane truck doesn't have the adequate <br /> height required for the traffic street light poles now. He also feels that the new one is safer. Mr. Takaba <br /> explained that the old crane truck will be given to another building division.
