' - <br /> Dion Gonzales,Civil Engineer IN REPLY REFER TO: <br /> County of Hawai`i Project No.2021PR00019 <br /> 74-5044 Ane Keohokalole Highway,Bldg.D Doc.No.2101NM04 <br /> Kailua-Kona,HI 96740 Archaeology <br /> dion.gonzales@hawaiicounty.gov <br /> Dear Dion Gonzales: <br /> SUBJECT: Chapter 6E-42 Historic Preservation Review <br /> Amendment to Change of Zone Ordinance 81-723 (REZ 399) <br /> WaiAkea Ahupua`a,South Hilo District,Island of Hawaii <br /> TMK:(3)2-2-041:075 por. <br /> This letter provides the State Historic Preservation Division's (SHPD's) review of a request to amend Rezone <br /> Ordnance Number 81-723 (REZ 399) pertaining to the 0.46-acre area.The submittal was received by our office on <br /> January 8,2021.The submittal includes photographs of the project area,and a letter to the County of Hawai`i asking <br /> to amend the Rezone and describing the project area including aerial imagery and maps. <br /> Project Description <br /> The property owner,Kelly Kagimoto,is requesting the entire 20,188-square-foot property to become part of the CN- <br /> 10 zoning district and is seeking the deletion of all conditions of approval within Ordinance No. 81-723. Currently, <br /> only the front half of the property is in the CN-10 zone. The property owner plans to develop a retail store if the <br /> other half of the property can be changed from Ordinance No. 81-723 to a CN-10 zoning district. <br /> Findings <br /> A review of SHPD's records show that no archaeological inventory survey(AIS)has been conducted on the project <br /> parcel or vicinity, and that no archaeological historic properties have been identified within the project parcel. The <br /> project area is within an urban portion of Hilo and few archaeological resources remain in the area. Additionally, a <br /> photograph included in the submittal displays previous ground disturbance throughout the project area. <br /> Determination <br /> Based on the information provided, SHPD has no objection to the requested amendment to amend Rezone I <br /> Ordnance No. 81-723 pertaining to the subject property.
