i <br />ilMgYf�B N,aY <br />i� q# <br />'MTT'O• �.HA:�f <br />WHEREAS, Waimea Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated <br />to promoting the arts, the encouragement of artists, and providing a forum for art -related events <br />in Hawaii; and <br />WHEREAS, Waimea Arts Council, founded in 1974 and established as a nonprofit <br />organization in 1978, is a volunteer organization supported through donations, as well as dues <br />and contributions from artists who utilize the facility to sell their artwork; and <br />WHEREAS, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the Waimea Arts Council was unable to <br />generate revenue for approximately six months, however, was still required to provide landscape <br />maintenance pursuant to its lease agreement; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that <br />promote the health, safety, and welfare of the community; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to Waimea Arts Council for its landscape maintenance <br />expenses. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
