A Resolution authorizing the County (via the Department of Research and Development), pursuant to NRS <br /> §46-7, to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Health and Human Services, for a <br /> $3,000,000.00 project grant entitled "Kuleana Health"; <br /> 2. A Bill/Ordinance to amend the Operating Budget 21-38 to appropriate $3,000,000 in federal funds. <br /> 3. Wave Finance Committee and the 5-day-hold period after approval of the Resolution and Bill. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The Department of Health and Human Services has awarded the County $3,000,000 to implement a Health <br /> Literacy program called "Kuleana Health"that will advance COVID-19 and general health literacy efforts to <br /> reach minority and underserved populations on Hawaii Island. Community First, Inc. will lead an island-wide <br /> consortium of health care providers to implement best-practice health literacy interventions, and initiatives <br /> that will reach the most vulnerable communities on Hawaii Island.
