i <br /> SNSy60F�t4 <br /> 40•• 4'4 <br /> COUNTY OF <br /> L� �IGNv <br /> C ` ` STATE OF HAWAI'l <br /> • b —J•is <br /> art cs•µa.N <br /> SOLUTION NO. 198 21 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE <br /> FUTURE FOR THE LIGHT UP THE NIGHT AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE <br /> COMMUNITY AWARENESS CAMPAIGN. <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that envisions <br /> harmony and balance among the diverse people of Hawaii and encourages each person to <br /> contribute their deepest values, create shared visions, and continuously improve their <br /> communities; and <br /> WHEREAS, October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and Friends of the Future <br /> is working in partnership with the North Hawaii Domestic Violence Action Center to coordinate <br /> pop-up sites throughout the community for the Light Up the Night Against Domestic Violence <br /> community awareness campaign in lieu of its annual Peace Vigil due to the COVID-19 <br /> pandemic; and <br /> WHEREAS, these pop-up sites will provide educational pamphlets and support <br /> information on domestic violence awareness, essential supplies to victims of domestic violence, <br /> and face masks for the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is requesting funds to cover expenses for marketing <br /> and promotional items, pamphlets, face masks, and essential supplies that will be distributed to <br /> the community and victims of domestic violence during its Light Up the Night Against Domestic <br /> Violence community awareness initiative during the month of October; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports domestic violence <br /> prevention and intervention initiatives to improve the quality of life for Hawaii Island residents; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Office of the <br /> Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Friends of the Future for the Light Up the Night <br /> Against Domestic Violence community awareness campaign. <br />
