REQUEST: <br /> A resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the Department of Defense, State of <br /> Hawaii, Hawaii Emergency Management Agency to accept grant funds. And an ordinance to amend <br /> Ordinance 21-39, Capital Improvement Budget, to add the following appropriation: <br /> Generators for Wastewater Treatment Facilities - $459,000 from General Obligation Bonds and <br /> Other Sources <br /> Generators for Wastewater Treatment Facilities - $1,377,000 from Hazard Mitigation Grant <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> FEMA has approved Hazard Mitigation Grant Program funds for the County of Hawai'i for generators for <br /> Wastewater Treatment Facilities. <br /> Total eligible cost is $1,834,757 with a Federal share of 75%. Funds will be used to purchase and install 4 <br /> stationary and 4 trailer mounted generators to service the Hilo Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP), <br /> Kulaimano WWTP, Papa'ikou WWTP, Wailuku Sewer Pump Station (SPS), Paukaa SPS, Wailoa SPS, <br /> Onekahakaha SPS, and Kolea SPS during severe weather events. <br /> A Project Data/Financial Impact Statement is attached. <br /> We respectfully request to have the resolution waived from committee and placed on the next Council <br /> Agenda in order to expedite the acceptance of the grant funds. <br /> SIGNED: DATE: � 4 <br /> D partment Head <br />
