No. 384 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 9:33 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 384, reports as <br /> follows: <br /> Communication No. 384, submitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated August 31, 2021, <br /> nominates Kanoe Wilson to the Puna Community Development Plan Action Committee <br /> (CDP AC). Ms. Wilson is a life-long resident of Hawaii, and is deeply passionate and <br /> committed to serving her community. She graduated from Kamehameha Schools in 1991, <br /> and is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She currently sits <br /> on the Boards of Ka`ialuaopina, Ka`Umeke Ka`eo PCS, Hawaii Environmental Alliance, and <br /> more. If confirmed, Ms. Wilson will serve a term ending on December 31, 2024. <br /> Executive Assistant to the Mayor Pomaika`i Bartolome was present via Zoom to introduce <br /> Ms. Wilson. Ms. Wilson appeared before Your Committee via Zoom and spoke of her work <br /> with Kamehameha Schools and her experience advocating for aloha `aina values and bringing <br /> communities together across fields and sectors. <br /> Committee Members Matt Kaneali'i-Kleinfelder and Sue Lee Loy thanked Ms. Wilson for her <br /> time and energy in helping the community, and noted that she is a perfect fit for the Puna <br /> CDP AC. Ms. Lee Loy also expressed that the County is lucky to receive the cultural knowledge, <br /> guidance and skills that Ms. Wilson brings. <br /> Committee Member Holeka Inaba and Ms. Wilson made exchanges in `Olelo Hawaii, where <br /> Mr. Inaba voiced his support for her nomination and thanked Ms. Wilson for her willingness to <br /> serve. <br /> Committee Members Rebecca Villegas and Maile David concurred with Mr. Inaba, and noted <br /> the significance of her cultural awareness on the commission. <br /> Committee Chair Ashley Kierkiewicz thanked Ms. Wilson and noted that she is grateful for the <br /> aloha `aina and malama `aina perspective Ms. Wilson will add to the Puna CDP AC. <br /> PC Report No.: 31 <br />
