REPORT OF THE <br /> COMMITTEE ON FINANCE <br /> DATE: September 21, 2021 Re: Comm.No. 389/Res.No. 200-21 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:15 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 200-21, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 200-21,transmitted by Director of Finance Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 389 <br /> dated September 2, 2021, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the <br /> University of Hawai`i. <br /> This resolution provides $15,000 from the Department of Research and Development to the University <br /> of Hawai`i to fund its "Prevention and Management of Little Fire Ants in Farms"program. <br /> Research and Development Economic Development Specialist Glenn Sako provided an overview of the <br /> resolution. Director Douglas Adams added that the program is one of several conducting work on <br /> invasive species through innovation grant awards. <br /> Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz asked Mr. Sako to clarify whether the program's stakeholder <br /> list would be drawing from existing data.
