3 <br /> N(Y OF{ <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAIII STATE OF HAWAPI <br /> Of <br /> i <br /> SOLUTION N . 23:1 21 <br /> I <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO A`ONA <br /> COMMUNITY GARDEN TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS <br /> CARDBOARD SHREDDING EVENTS IN THE KONA COMMUNITY. <br /> WHEREAS, the Ma`ona Community Garden is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that <br /> focuses on green infrastructure, food systems and community health, and has experience in land <br /> restoration, food systems and composting; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ma`ona Community Garden will hold a series of cardboard shredding <br /> events in Council Districts 6, 7 and 8 in 2021,to divert cardboard from the landfills to create <br /> packaging material, garden mulch and high-grade soil amendments; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ma`ona Community Garden is requesting funds to assist with expenses <br /> related to its community cardboard shredding events, which includes supplies and equipment <br /> associated with the events; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support public <br /> and youth programs that promote educational activities in a drug- and alcohol-free environment, <br /> such as Ma`ona Community Garden's community cardboard shredding events; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Ma`ona Community Garden for expenses related to its <br /> community cardboard shredding events in the Kona Community. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
