COUNTY OF HAWAIII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 258 21 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE AUTISM <br /> SOCIETY OF HAWAII FOR THE 13TH ANNUAL SURFERS HEALING HAWAII <br /> EVENT AT RICHARDSON OCEAN PARK. <br /> WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawaii is a 5 0 1(c)(3)nonprofit organization that <br /> serves individuals and families touched by autism, also known as autism spectrum disorder; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Surfers Healing Hawaii event is a free, day-long surf camp for children <br /> with autism and other disabilities, and their families,that offers a natural and therapeutic <br /> experience utilizing the weightlessness and rhythm of the ocean; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 13'h Annual Surfers Healing Hawaii event will be held on December 4, <br /> 2021, at Richardson Ocean Park and is made possible through partnerships with Surfers Healing <br /> Hawaii Island Chapter,the Department of Parks and Recreation, The Autism Society of <br /> Hawaii, Double Good, and countless surfers and volunteers; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Autism Society of Hawaii is requesting hands to assist with various <br /> expenses to host the 13'h Annual Surfers Healing Hawaii event, such as refreshments,trophies, <br /> and medals; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Parks and Recreation provides and facilitates a wide <br /> array of services and programs that meet the needs of the Hawaii Island community and is <br /> supportive of this initiative to provide recreational opportunities to those with disabilities; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to The Autism Society of Hawaii for the 13th Annual <br /> Surfers Healing Hawaii event at Richardson Ocean Park. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
