Page 2 <br /> . VR <br /> . NC). <br /> 1 receiving the citations with county fines may contest them in <br /> 2 the same manner that state fines are contested. The traffic <br /> 3 violations bureau shall collect the fines for the counties and <br /> 4. shall remit them to the respective director of budget and fiscal <br /> 5 services, or finance, of the counties on a semi-annual basis. <br /> 6 (b) In addition to any monetary assessment imposed for a <br /> 7 traffic infraction, the court may impose penalties on all <br /> 8 outstanding traffic citations and judgments. The penalties <br /> 9 shall be established pursuant to rules approved by the supreme <br /> 10 court; provided that the amounts of the penalties shall be based <br /> 11 upon a graduated scale that increases in proportion to the <br /> 12 length of the delinquency. Any interest penalty imposed as <br /> 13 provided in this section may be waived by the court for good <br /> 14 cause.- All penalties collected for such outstanding citations <br /> 15and judgments shall be paid to the director of finance of the <br /> 16 State[:] ; provided that if the county has enacted an ordinance <br /> 17 imposing an additional fine for the infraction, the director <br /> P g <br /> 18 shall remit the •counties' share, if any, of the penalty to the <br /> 19 respective director of budget and fiscal services, or finance, <br /> 20 of the counties on a semi-annual basis.
