REQUEST: <br /> The Department of Research and Development wishes to provide funds of$10,000 for and enter into an <br /> agreement with the University of Hawaii Economic Research Organization (UHERO) to maintain the Hawaii <br /> County Data Portal for the period July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022. Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section <br /> 46-7, requires that County departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the <br /> federal or state governments. <br /> B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION tUSE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED: <br /> In 2017, the Department of Research and Development engaged UHERO to design and develop a data <br /> portal for Hawaii County to serve as an online "data book" for the County. The original agreement provided <br /> $45,000 to design and launch the portal, and host annually through 2020. The estimated annual hosting <br /> maintenance is $10,000. The Data portal hosted at https://data.uhero.hawaii.edu/coh/and linked from the <br /> R&D Data and Information website at https://www.rd.hawaiicounty.gov/data-information, contains 206 <br /> indicators related to economic development, agriculture, construction, energy, tourism, and population. Data <br /> is viewable in table and trendline graphs, and downloadable in PNG and JPEG images, SVG Vector images, <br /> and CSV and PDF formats.
