Background and Justification 12/13/21 G The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney seeks to renew our agreement with Thomson Reuters for Westlaw services. Our current agreement expires on February 28, 2022. We will be migrating from Westlaw Next to Westlaw Edge—which provides the same services as our current contract, in addition to other key search features needed by our legal staff. 1 With a five-year contract, the breakdown would be: • 1 'year cost$4,069.18/month • 2nd year cost $4,109.87/month • 31d year cost$4,160.97/month • 4th year cost$4,192.48/month • 5th year cost$4,234.40/month *(1% price increase after year one and each year thereafter, for the duration of the contract) Total cost summary: • 1-year renewal $48,830.16 • 2-year renewal: $49,318.44 • 3-year renewal: $49,811.64 • 4-year renewal: $50,309.76 • 5-year renewal: $50,812.80 Five-year grand total with renewable contract would be $249,082.80 We have been utilizing Thomson Reuters Westlaw for legal research for over 20 years. The plan offers unlimited access for 38 attorneys and other appropriate support staff. It should be noted that the monthly rate on a five (5) year contract with a 1% annual increase is a savings over rates of a shorter termed three (3) year contract with a standard 3°fin annual increase.
