County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 563, reports as <br /> follows: <br /> Communication No. 563, submitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth dated December 17, 2021, <br /> submitting for the Council's review and confirmation of the nomination of Shane Vincent to the <br /> Leeward Planning Commission. <br /> Mr. Vincent, a fifty-year resident ofHawai`i Island. He received his bachelor's degree in <br /> Economics from Santa Clara University and MBA in Finance from.Thunderbird School of <br /> Global Management. Mr. Vincent proudly served in the United States Army in the Airborne <br /> Infantry and Special Operations units, in various leadership roles, from 1993-1998. A licensed <br /> General Contractor in the state since 2008. Mr. Vincent has been involved in numerous business <br /> and residential projects as Project Manager, Development Manager, Business Director and <br /> Project Engineer, and opened the doors to his own company, Vincent Construction Management, <br /> in September of 2018. Mr. Vincent is an active volunteer in the community and serves on the <br /> Board of Hawaii Wildlife Center and Sandalwood at Waimea. If confirmed, he will complete <br /> the term ending December 31, 2023. <br /> Executive Assistant to the Mayor, Pomaika`i Bartolome, was present via Zoom to introduce <br /> Mr. Vincent. She explained that Mr. Vincent was not available due to a scheduling <br /> misunderstanding. <br /> Committee Chair Ashley Kierkiewicz noted that if the Committee does not make a decision <br /> today then this will become an automatic approval. She recommended moving the nomination <br /> out of Committee, and having an in-depth conversation with Mr. Vincent during the January 19, <br /> 2022 Council meeting. Committee Members Tim Richards and Holeka Inaba agreed. <br /> The vote was then taken on the motion to move this measure to Council with a favorable <br /> recommendation and passed with 5 "ayes." <br /> PC Report No.: 38 <br />
