No. 309-22 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 9:01 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 309-22, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 309-22, transmitted by the Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 602 <br /> dated January 21, 2022, authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the University of Hawaii. <br /> Funds in the amount of$25,000 from the Department of Research and Development would be used for <br /> the "Expanding Devil Weed Eradication Program to the Puna District"project. <br /> Committee Chair Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder emphasized that the devil weed is on the "100 of the <br /> World's Worst Invasive Alien Species" list. Mr. Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder then stated that the <br /> Big Island Invasive Species Committee will also have additional funding for the Puna area to eliminate <br /> the devil weed. <br /> Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz asked Ms. Sako whether it would be possible for <br /> Research& Development to publish information on County agreements online for members of the <br /> public to access.
