COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ATF OF•NF,i -. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 328 22 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT IN THE GEOTHERMAL RELOCATION AND <br /> COMMUNITY BENEFITS FUND TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT FOR THE HAWAII <br /> FIRE DEPARTMENT'S STATION 10 IN PAHOA. <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 36, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as <br /> amended), established the Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits Program and the <br /> Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits Fund, which are administered by the Planning <br /> Department; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 36, Section 2-181, of the Hawai`i County <br /> Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as amended), allowable expenditures for public purposes relating to <br /> the Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits program include, but are not limited to, <br /> road improvements, water infrastructure, land acquisition, parks and recreational facility needs, <br /> civil defense, and mass transit improvements, provided that appropriations are recommended by <br /> the Planning Director and adopted by the Hawai`i County Council; and <br /> WHEREAS, according to the Hawai`i Fire Department, between 2016 and 2021, there <br /> were approximately 1,650 fire-related calls in the lower Puna district, which accounted for nearly <br /> 35% of all fire-related calls island wide; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Fire Department's Station 10 in Pahoa is in dire need of one <br /> mobile self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) compressor unit($178,000 estimate), 20 <br /> SCBA bottles at 4,500 psi ($27,500 estimate), and a F-450 to tow and transport the compressor <br /> unit and bottles ($95,000 estimate); and <br /> WHEREAS, having a mobile unit means real-time replenishment of bottles at any <br /> incident site in lower Puna, and firefighters will no longer lose valuable time going elsewhere, <br /> mid-incident, to refill bottles at the nearest station with a working compressor unit, which is <br /> Station 2 in Keaukaha; now,therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in <br /> accordance with Chapter 2, Article 36, Section 2-181, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2016 <br /> Edition, as amended), and with the approval of the Planning Director, the following amount is <br /> hereby transferred and appropriated as set forth below: <br />
