• Objective 4: Protect and nurture Hamakua's social and cultural <br /> diversity and heritage assets, including sacred places. historic <br /> sites and buildings, and distinctive plantation towns. <br /> The subject site is not within existing plantation towns, and <br /> thus, this objective is not applicable. <br /> o Objective 5: Direct futbre settlement patterns that are <br /> sustainable and connected. Honor Hamakua's historic and <br /> cultural assets by concentrating new development in existing, <br /> walkable, mixed use town centers while limiting rural sprawl. <br /> While-the-site is not within existing town, it is proximate-to-an— <br /> existing plantation camp called Kalaoa. The proposed lot size <br /> will be rural in nature, and there will be no more than the <br /> existing two (2) and one (1) new approved dwellings on the <br /> property. The visual and functional nature of the site will thus <br /> not be altered. <br /> • <br /> O Objective 6: "Develop and improve critical community <br /> infrastructure, including utilities, healthcare, emergency <br /> services, affordable housing, educational opportunities and <br /> recreational facilities to keep our ohana safe, strong, and <br /> health." <br /> While the project will utilize existing and not expand utility <br /> infrastructure (such as water and access), it will contribute <br /> towards the community infrastructure.
