No. 650/Res.No. 332-22 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 9:00 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 332-22, reports as follows: <br /> Resolution No. 332-22, transmitted by Finance Director Deanna S. Sako via Communication No. 650 <br /> dated February 17, 2022, authorizes the Office of the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the <br /> State of Hawaii, Hawaii Tourism Authority. <br /> This resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into a three-year agreement to establish the roles and <br /> responsibilities for the implementation of the Hawaii Island Destination Management Action Plan. <br /> Research and Development Director Douglass S. Adams provided background on the measure. <br /> Committee Member Ashley L. Kierkiewicz asked Mr. Adams to clarify how the County is working <br /> on the Destination Management Action (DMAP)plan without this measure in place. Mr. Adams <br /> stated that funding comes from HTA (Hawai`i Tourism Authority), County innovation grants, and <br /> stewardship programs. <br /> Committee Member Herbert M. "Tim" Richards III provided comments in support and emphasized <br /> the importance of assessing community and environmental needs together. <br /> Committee Member Heather L.
