�MtYf0 N Vt COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII OF RESOLUTION NO. 381L 22 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRINGIAPPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOSPICE OF TALO FOR ITS 18' ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE EVENT. WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo (doing business as Hawaii Care Choices) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing palliative, hospice, and bereavement care with a mission to improve the lives of those touched by illness or grief by offering support, guidance, and compassionate care of the body, mind, and spirit; and WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of Health reports that in the last two years Hawaii County lost approximately 182 lives due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has taken an emotional and spiritual toll on our island community; and WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo is hosting its 1811 Annual Celebration of Life festival on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Reeds Bay Beach Park to commemorate the lives of loved ones who have passed; and WHEREAS, the Celebration of Life is free, open to the public, and will include culturally diverse activities to honor our island heritage, Lights of Remembrance, a sunset luminary lantern release, live music, and dancing; and WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo is requesting funds to cover expenses including, but not limited to, stage equipment, generator, and portable toilet rentals for its 18'Annual Celebration of Life festival; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug-free and alcohol-free events that enrich the lives of community members; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hospice of Hilo for its 18th Annual Celebration of Life Event.
