(HYF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization whose mission is to open doorways to the world by sharing life skills rooted in the <br /> Hawaiian values of kuleana, aloha, laulima, and mahalo; and <br /> WHEREAS, HYF, Honoka`a Business Association, and the Department of Parks and <br /> Recreation are working together to coordinate the 2022 Honoka`a Western Week festival; and <br /> WHEREAS, the 2022 Honoka`a Western Week festival is a celebration of Paniolo <br /> culture that fosters a true sense of community,tradition, and pride, which will be held from <br /> May 21 to May 30, 2022; and <br /> WHEREAS, events and activities during the week-long festival include, arts and crafts, <br /> food booths, talent competition, performances, rodeo, historical photo displays, and Paniolo <br /> music; and <br /> WHEREAS, this annual event has been attended by thousands of Hawaii Island <br /> residents and visitors and has increased economic tourism for Hawaii Island by promoting <br /> Honoka`a town as a tourist destination; and <br /> WHEREAS,the 2022 Honoka`a Western Week festival will educate and bring <br /> awareness of the rich and diverse cultural resources of Hawaii Island, making positive <br /> contributions to the quality of life for its residents and visitors; and <br />
