i <br /> I <br /> i <br /> COUNTY OF �I.AWAI`I _* STATE OF HAWAII <br /> •�< Mie\ <br /> ,tEOf Nf'� <br /> I <br /> RESOLUTION N <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO MALAA O PUNA <br /> FORT E BLACK SANDS BEACH COMMUNITY GARDEN. <br /> WHEREAS, Malama O Puna is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to <br /> enhance the environment and standard of living for the residents of Puna; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Black Sands Beach Property Owners Association would like to create a <br /> community garden that is centrally placed in the subdivision on a partially fenced .17-acre lot <br /> owned by the association, which will provide the community with fresh produce and a space to <br /> promote and expand sustainable gardening practices; and <br /> WHEREAS, Malama O Puna will be working with the Black Sands Beach Property <br /> Owners Association to create the community garden and is requesting funds for expenses, which <br /> include, but are not limited to, materials to complete the perimeter fencing,potting soil, cinder, <br /> tools, fertilizer, seeds, and plants; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Research and Development supports sustainable <br /> agricultural practices by promoting educational opportunities designed to build skills and <br /> capacity in the farming community and to support locally produced agricultural products; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development to provide a grant to Malama O Puna for the Black Sands Beach <br /> Community Garden. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
