No. 805 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Hilo, Hawaii <br /> TIME: 9:01 a.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawaii County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawaii 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 805, reports as <br /> follows: <br /> Communication No. 805, transmitted by Mayor Mitchell D. Roth, dated May 11, 2022, submitted <br /> for the Council's review and confirmation the nomination of Mr. Palani Greenwell to the Kailua <br /> Village Design Commission. <br /> Executive Assistant to the Mayor, Pomaika`i Bartolome, was present in the Hilo Chambers to <br /> introduce Mr. Greenwell, who appeared via Zoom. Mr. Greenwell is currently the President of <br /> Foresight Engineering & Design, LLC. If confirmed, he will serve a term ending December 31, 2022. <br /> Mr. Greenwell expressed that community planning is important and wanted to contribute his <br /> professional experience through this Commission. <br /> Committee Member Holeka Inaba asked Mr. Greenwell to describe his relationship with the <br /> Lanihau Properties Organization. Mr. Greenwell explained that the President of the organization, <br /> Jimmy Greenwell is his father's first cousin, but he has no relationship with him or connection to <br /> Lanihau. <br /> Committee Vice Chair Rebecca Villegas and Committee Member Sue Lee Loy thanked <br /> Mr. Greenwell for his willingness to serve and highlighted his skill sets and expertise. <br /> Committee Chair Ashley Kierkiewicz thanked Mr. Greenwell for giving his time to the <br /> community and noted his experience in planning, land-use, and design will be of great benefit. <br /> The vote was then taken on the motion to move this measure to Council with a favorable <br /> recommendation and passed with seven "ayes," and Committee Members Tim Richards and <br /> Matt Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder absent. <br /> PC Report No.: 67 <br />
