Number of Persons Who Will Benefit: Several
thousand visitors came to the Garden prior to closure in 2016.
After the current Covid-19 lock down is over, we plan to again
attract school children on learning expeditions; scientists and
college students who come to study the plants, ecosystems and
the archaeological sites; cultural practitioners who use our
plants for weaving, medicine, as a food source, for carving and
other cultural activities; local community members and visitors
from around the world who enjoy our educational presentations
on history and culture, attend musical and hula events and our
classes in Master Gardening and ethnobotany. Visitors
continue to enjoy the very popular Pure Kona Green Farmer's
Market, hosted at the Garden every Sunday. Artisans, crafts
people, farmers offering their fresh produce, musicians, and
service groups such as a veterinarian set up their booths. The
public will continue to use the Garden as a place to walk among
the forest and plants to be spiritually and emotionally renewed.
C.
Project Description (Give a brief description of the
work that will be done with the funds requested,
including a timeframe and activities to accomplish
stated purpose.
