COUNTY OF i is e* STATE OF { <br /> �r�jos•xn� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 443 22 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PADA LAVA <br /> ZONE MUSEUM FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO PLACEMAKING INITIATIVES <br /> FOR PAHOA TOWN. <br /> WHEREAS, the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, displays <br /> cultural art and volcanic exhibits and artifacts that highlight the unique geological features of <br /> lower Puna, attracting visitors and residents who are contributing to the revitalization of <br /> downtown Pahoa and the surrounding community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum is supporting placemaking initiatives <br /> throughout 2022 and 2023 to bring community together around art, food, and music in the heart <br /> of Pahoa Village, to spark economic activity and build social cohesion; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum is requesting funds for expenses for <br /> placemaking initiatives for Pahoa Town, including entertainment, audio/video resources, <br /> lighting, staging, barricades, tents, and media announcements; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports public programs that promote <br /> drug-free and alcohol-free events that enrich the lives of community members; <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Pdhoa Lava Zone Museum for expenses relating to <br /> placemaking initiatives for Pahoa Town. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
