COUNTY OF i is e* STATE OF { �r�jos•xn� RESOLUTION NO. 443 22 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PADA LAVA ZONE MUSEUM FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO PLACEMAKING INITIATIVES FOR PAHOA TOWN. WHEREAS, the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, displays cultural art and volcanic exhibits and artifacts that highlight the unique geological features of lower Puna, attracting visitors and residents who are contributing to the revitalization of downtown Pahoa and the surrounding community; and WHEREAS, the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum is supporting placemaking initiatives throughout 2022 and 2023 to bring community together around art, food, and music in the heart of Pahoa Village, to spark economic activity and build social cohesion; and WHEREAS,the Pahoa Lava Zone Museum is requesting funds for expenses for placemaking initiatives for Pahoa Town, including entertainment, audio/video resources, lighting, staging, barricades, tents, and media announcements; and WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports public programs that promote drug-free and alcohol-free events that enrich the lives of community members; WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Pdhoa Lava Zone Museum for expenses relating to placemaking initiatives for Pahoa Town. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
