BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED): <br /> The County was successful in receiving FTA Section 5311 ARP funds to cover transit operational costs <br /> resulting from the novel coronavirus pandamic and lost passenger fares through December 31, 2025. <br /> The Formula Grants for Rural Areas Program (49. U.S.C. 5311) provides capital, planning, and operating <br /> assistance to states and federally recognized Indian tribes to support public transportation in rural areas with <br /> populations less than 50,000, where many residents often rely on public transit to reach their destinations. <br /> The funds received were from competitive applications submitted in 2021 to HDOT. <br /> SIGNED: DATE: 6/22/2022 <br /> Department Head <br />
