6�NSIt OF.i4 <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAIII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> p kTM <br /> ATE OP•N'� <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 46S 22 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO POHAKU PELEMAKA <br /> FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT EFFORTS. <br /> WHEREAS, Pohaku Pelemaka is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit whose mission is to protect, <br /> perpetuate, and enhance the intrinsic qualities of the Lower Puna area,Native Hawaiian <br /> wellbeing, and heritage of Hawaii Island in partnership with the County and State governments, <br /> as well as private and nonprofit sectors; and <br /> WHEREAS, Pohaku Pelemaka's educational, charitable, and scientific purpose is to <br /> aloha `aina Lower Puna communities, residents, and natural resources through culturally <br /> grounded programs and partnerships; and <br /> WHEREAS, community engagement and maintaining consistent communication streams <br /> amongst communities, government, and private and public partnerships is a critical component <br /> of Pohaku Pelemaka's outreach and success; and <br /> WHEREAS, Pohaku Pelemaka is requesting funds to purchase office supplies and <br /> software,portable sound and speaker systems, and equipment to support ongoing community <br /> engagement efforts; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development supports efforts to increase <br /> knowledge and understanding of other cultures as well as the economic contribution of the <br /> visitor industry to Hawaii Island; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research& Development to provide a grant to Pohaku Pelemaka to assist with expenses relating <br /> to its community engagement efforts. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
